It’s crazy to think we have come to
this… almost all of the world has some sort of social media account where they can
express their own identity and lifestyle by communicating to others through
media like pictures, posts, and videos. People are literally uploading hundreds
of pictures of their pets because they think their old neighbor from twenty
years ago might care. Even though that
guy from your high school Class of 2010 won’t stop poking you on Facebook, you
still get a small boost of encouragement when he Likes one of your posts. It’s
normal. And each post, picture, or video uploaded by every user says something
about the person behind the keyboard, whether they intend to or not. It’s this
little thing I like to call “Personal Branding.”
In the past, personal branding was maintained by how you acted towards your peers in conjunction with how they perceived you and your reputation. Now take that concept and put it on a platform in front of thousands. In today’s world, a personal brand is like having your own paparazzi documenting your every move- except that paparazzi is actually you and you’re live-posting your life. YOU get to decide how people perceive you, and you can even make edits as necessary.

Due to my fascination of Personal Branding, I have started “The PB Project” that will host a series of real-life Twitter accounts and analyze what their account says about the person behind the username. I’ll then ask the question, “If this person were a business, who would they be?” Mostly because that just seems fun and very 'Buzzfeed' of me.
